I bought the ValueRays mouse thinking my days of frozen hands were going to be over with. The heating portion of the mouse only lasted one week. I emailed the company and they told me I had to buy the warranty when I made the purchase to get it fixed. No where does it mention that on the amazon page. So the device pretty much only serves as a mouse now. Funny how no more heat but yet the mouse actually still works.

UPDATE: The company has allowed me to buy a warranty for $15 and they are shipping me a new mouse. The customer service is pretty fast and better than what I really expected. I’m giving this another try because when the mouse did work it was excellent. I just need something that can last from 9-5 and then some for at least a year. I don’t care if I have to replace the mouse every year, but every week/month won’t work.

The ValueRays®Warm Mouse I is a two button mouse with a scroll wheel. It has a smooth metallic finish and an on/of button to shut off the heat supply when it is not needed.

To get started you simply plug the USB cord into a USB port, I was not able to use the USB ports on my Apple keyboard because the Warm Mouse uses too much power for that hub, Turn the heated mouse “on” by pressing the control switch located on the USB cord. Quickly the mouse warms and begins to generate heat. It is recommended that you turn the mouse “off” when not in use. Turning the switch “off” only shuts off the heat supply, you are still able to use the mouse which makes it very convenient at the times when you don’t need the heat.

I have used a one button Apple mouse since the beginning of time and thought I would have trouble adapting to this two button scroll mouse. Not true, it is so very comfortable and easy to use that I was off and surfing immediately. The warmth is very soothing to the hand, I didn’t want to remove my hand from the warm mouse, and the shape fits my hand comfortably. The ergonomic shape also makes the scroll wheel easy to use.

    What I like:
    - the gloves fit very well and are comfortable. The wrist portion is extra long, which helps keep the gloves in place. Seem to be well made. They have the “Thinsulate” insulation in addition to the battery heat.

    Not so much:
    - each glove takes a D cell battery, located on the wrist, which makes the gloves very bulky. You’ll probably have to push your coat sleeves up as they likely won’t fit over the gloves. This would have had a much slimmer profile if it was designed for AA or even C batteries.
    - the only portion that heats up is in the upper portion of your palm, not the fingers at all. The theory is that heat from here will circulate into your fingers. It does seem to do that somewhat. My fingers can still get cold, but not uncomfortably so. Haven’t had much opportunity yet to test them with very cold or prolonged exposure.

    Don’t like:
    - the fingers and palm are coated with some substance that no doubt is intended to make the gloves more durable, but whatever it is doesn’t grip very well. I tried using these to shovel snow and finally gave up and switched to leather gloves as it was too hard to get a good grip on the shovel; it seemed to slip out of my hand unless I gripped very hard. Can’t do much of that with arthritis. These gloves would be MUCH better if they had some leather to provide a decent grip.
    - velcro straps are useless. They are too small to manage while wearing the gloves. The strap fits through a small slot and the end of the strap seems to be slightly bigger than the slot. So you can do the straps if you’re NOT wearing the gloves, but once you get them on you need your mommy to fasten the straps for you. :-)
    - The battery fits into a little pouch and you complete the circuit by snapping the cover over it. Literature that comes with the glove says you can turn the heat off simply by unsnapping the the cover. Not. I unsnapped the covers on both gloves and took them off. About an hour later, I put them back on and one of them was still producing heat even though the cover was unsnapped. So you’ve really got to remove the batteries if you want to be sure it’s off.
    - Taking the batteries out and putting them back in is a bit of a hassle, as it is a very tight fit. Would have been much better if they had some kind of a switch to turn the heat on and off.
